Arthur Kong

Executive Director & Co-Founder

Arthur is an engineer for the mining and metallurgy sector, a civic-entrepreneur, and an international development consultant. From 2009 to 2011, Arthur was with Engineers Without Borders Canada in the sub-Saharan African countries of Zambia and Malawi. There, he provided organizational-change and management consulting services to a project run by CARE International-Zambia, which focused on helping the rural poor gain access to markets through the development of  small-scale agro-businesses  across the country. In 2011, Arthur was appointed by Engineers Without Borders Canada and social-investors to co-lead a study to examine the feasibility of starting a social-enterprise that manufactures rubber-products in Canada using fairly-traded/socially responsible rubber from the west-African nation of Liberia.  Arthur currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Chinese Canadian National Council - Toronto Chapter (CCNC-TO), and ACCESS Charity. Arthur has also worked on serveral municipal, provincial, and federal campaigns in the past. In 2006, Arthur was awarded the Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.


 

Louroz Mercader
Chair of the Board & Co-Founder

Louroz is the President of the Mississauga Youth Games (MY Games), a grassroots non-profit that provides free sports and arts programs to young people. He is the founder of Local Democracy Week, an initiative committed to engaging youth with government in partnership with all political parties in the Ontario Legislature. Louroz serves as a director on the boards of Civic Action Toronto, GO Transit and the United Way. He is chairman of the board for ProudPolitics and ACCESS: Allowing Children a Chance at Education. In 2001, Louroz was awarded the Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers.  In 2009, he was appointed to the inaugural DiverseCity Fellows and in 2011 was named a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum


 

Curtis (C.J.) Atkins
 
Curtis is a PhD candidate in political science at York University in Toronto, Canada. His research interests include political economy, public administration reform, and the history of political theory and social democracy.  Currently, he is working on a project analyzing the public management initiatives of the Obama Administration and their continuity with past Democratic presidencies, particularly that of Bill Clinton. For the past year, he has taught public policy and economics at York University. Originally from Arkansas, his political and public service involvement has stretched across the United States and Canada and has included activity within political parties as well as other community organizations.
