FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORONTO – Tuesday, February 11, 2013 -  Kathleen Wynne was officially sworn in today at Queen’s Park as Premier of Ontario after having been elected as the leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. Wynne also named 26 fellow Liberal MPP’s to her cabinet.  Among those who were sworn in was the openly gay MPP for Toronto Center, Glen Murray, who Wynne picked as the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.

“This is a significant day for the LGBT community and a cause for celebration.  With Kathleen as the first openly gay premier in Canada and Glen heading up the powerful Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, their achievements will serve as significant role models  for LGBT youth and community members across Canada”, said Arthur Kong, Executive Director and co-founder of ProudPolitics. “Like Kathleen and Glen, there are other LGBT officials and candidates at all levels of government and from all political parties, and we at ProudPolitics look forward to their leadership and contribution to a more inclusive and equitable Canada.”
